Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria

REST - RESET - REWIRE

Jessica Summers, The RSD Coach

Jessica & Alex discuss the effects of Rejection Sensitivity Dysphoria on the nervous system.

About Me

Hi, I’m Jessica Summers. I’m a hypno-psychotherapist, and I live with RSD triggers too.

For years I worked on myself diligently, and my confidence and self-esteem grew. And yet there were still areas of my life that could sink me deep into an RSD spiral without warning. At first, that left me feeling like a fraud.

Then I realised why. The trigger wasn’t coming from my thoughts. It was firing from somewhere deeper: my brain’s threat assessor. When I learned to calm that part first, the last piece fell into place, and RSD Free grew from that discovery.

I know how hard it can be to ask for help: the fear of not “getting it”, of getting it wrong, of going over a painful past again. I’ve lived those barriers and seen them from the clinician’s chair.

So I designed a way of working where change doesn’t become another source of shame. There’s no going over your past and no getting it wrong, and we work at a pace your nervous system can manage.

I’ve lived this work. I’ve researched it deeply. And now I teach it with warmth, clarity, and compassion.

Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria

Do you ever feel like you're too sensitive?

- Constantly overthinking

going over and over the same stressful thoughts.

- Struggling with shame

and feeling like you've said or done the wrong thing.

- One small comment

can send you into a downward spiral that ruins your whole day.

It can feel like no one understands

"Therapy helped. But it didn't touch the RSD"

I hear this from many people who come to me. Therapy helped them understand themselves. They became more forgiving of themselves and grew in confidence. And still, when RSD hits, none of that understanding reached them in the moment.

Why does it feel like no one gets it?

I want you to know that what you’re experiencing begins as a nervous system reaction — a state of dysregulation.

Your brain's 'threat assessor' can leap into fight, flight, or freeze mode, even when there’s no real danger.

This is your body’s way of trying to keep you safe. It’s not a personal failing. And it's not your fault.

And it's not surprising you haven't been able to tackle it with willpower alone

The good news? Together, we can learn to rest, reset, and rewire your response so it feels safer, calmer, and more balanced.

You deserve to feel at ease in your own skin.
